It is a Korean designer who conceptualized this idea from Apple. With this product you can dock your iPhone, iPodTouch, iPod to an FM clock radio docking station with an integrated picoprojector. A nice little LCD screen will adorn the front of the E-Pod, which will add a sexy touch to an already completely elegant and futuristic design. In addition, it will have touch-sensitive buttons on its base for managing the menu of the E-Pod!

Regarding the sound, in addition to the integrated loudspeakers, it will have a subwoofer for better bass performance! The connection to the mains power has been simplified through a USB connector to facilitate compatibility between different countries.

The whole installed, for example on a bedside table, is adjustable 180° in order to project your favorite movies on the ceiling, to enjoy while lying comfortably in your bed. I do not know if this concept will one day see the daylight or even if Apple eventually would follow the project. What we can conclude is that the future will not stop to astonish us!

This time, TEDACOS presents a mini video projector - the TEDACOS HD 720P.

Let’s talk first about its size. It measures 15cm long, 12.5cm wide and it’s 5cm thick. This is obviously bigger than a picoprojector but it fits easily in the hand and could easily fit into a large jacket pocket for example.

With its 800 grams, its weight is very far from being excessive. The picture below will help you to see more accurately its actual size. It is compared to a standard mouse and Wii control joystick.

The projection characteristics of the TEDACOS HD 720P mini projector:

The HD 720P uses LCOS technology and has a LED lamp whose life goes beyond 30000 hours. Its brightness is 60 lumens for a contrast ratio of 200:1. The projected resolution is 1280 x 768 pixels and the HD 720P can support 4:3 and 16:9 formats. Regarding the size of the diagonal of the projected image, it can reach up to 3 meters with a maximum distance of 5m from the projection surface.

The HD 720P mini video projector from TEDACOS has 3 different video outputs. An HDMI, VGA and CVBS output. HDCP is also supported. It is therefore very easy to connect it to your laptop or any external video device.

If you decide to opt for the TEDACOS HD 720P mini video projector, you will receive in the package the mini projector, a remote control, an AV cable, VGA cable, instruction manual and adapter.

The price should be around 700€.

Technical specifications:

This mini video projector has 100 lumens, 10 times more than nowdays picoprojectors but weighs 3 times heavier. You therefore cannot put it in the pocket of your jacket, which is a weakness compared to other picos.

This mini video projector, ACER K10, uses DLP technology combined with LED technology and offers a resolution of 800 X 600 pixels (SVGA) against 640 X 480 (VGA) for a classic picoprojector.

With a 2.4 meters distance, the K10 will project an image of 60 inches, which is approximately what are picoprojectors capable of. The advantage of the K10 is “keystone correction“. When the projector is not set perfectly perpendicular to the screen, it will cause a trapezoidal image that is referred to as “keystoning”, or a keystone problem. The K10’s “keystone correction” option will correct this problem.

The varranty, like all ACER products, is 2 years.

The price is between 400€ and 500€ - one and a half times more than a conventional picoprojector.

It is capable of projecting an image of a diagonal up to 127 cm (50 inches) if projecting at a distance between 21 and 180 cm.

It uses LED lens with a life expectancy estimated at more than 50000 hours. LED lens are practically guaranteed for life!

The HS-102 also has a MP4 player and a USB port.

In terms of brightness, the HS-102 has the pole position on the market with 160 lumens. The disadvantage is that it can only project at a 800 × 600 pixels resolution. Despite this, its contrast ratio is 2000:1. With all these options, the HS-102 can project a comfortable readability even in a bright room.

The HS-102 does not heat up either, thanks to the LED lens technology. Their miniaturization allows the lens to run cooler as they consume less energy than conventional bulbs.

The HS-102 is only available in South Korea for the moment, it will be expected to appear soon on the U.S. markets at around $550.

It is iPhone and iTouch compatible. It includes integrated speakers for better sound quality for which you can control the volume via the touch screen. Several video inputs are available: iPhone / iPod Connector, RCA, VGA. There are also two other cables for input sources, a VGA and RCA. The VGA cable lets you connect the MiLi Pro directly to your laptop or PC VGA port. The RCA cable lets you connect to most AV equipment sources such as DVD players, VCRs, video game consoles, etc… You can switch between all these different sources at any time with the “input source” button. The size of the diagonal of the image can reach 70 inches, with maximum quality at 40 inches. The battery (recharged in 3 hours) can be changed and a second one is provided to ensure a longer projection.

Its price has finally been unveiled, it will be around 255$. It will normally be available in October.

The Beambox Essential G2 weighs only 75g, its size has not been communicated. It will project a 640 x 480 VGA resolution with a brightness of 20 lumens. The contrast ratio is 100:1 and you will get an image of 1.85m in diagonal with a three meters distance from the projection surface.

Like the Evolution R1 picoprojector, it features 1GB of internal flash memory. The difference between these two models is that the Essential G2 has no battery. This means that unfortunately you’ll need a mains external power to use your G2.

However, it has a USB port, which when connected to a computer makes of your picoprojector a second plug and play monitor (theoretically, of course… it remains to be tested). It is compatible with Windows and Mac systems.

The Essential G2 picoprojector is supplied with a remote control and a tripod. It is currently available in pre-order for the price of 250$ (175€).

Adtec was not successful in the commercialization of its first picoprojector. Maybe this time will they go all the way. The new Ad-MMp15AW picoprojector, with a more ergonomic shape, will simply have the same characteristics as the Visimax from Maxon. It means that it will offer a 640 × 480 VGA resolution with a brightness of 15 lumens and a contrast ratio of 200:1. The projection technology used is LCOS technology.

The big advantage of the Ad-MMp15AW over Maxon’s Visimax picoprojector is its price. It is announced around 34800 yen in Japan, ie slightly less than 250€. Here is a price that will be very advantageous compared to the current 345€ for the Visimax in our online store.

I also remind you the measurements of the DELL M109S, which are 9.2 × 10.5 × 3.7 cm in size and 360 grams in weight. It is obviously much larger than Optoma’s PK-101 picoprojector for example. That’s why we call them mini video projectors, and not picoprojectors. This is an important difference in the world of miniaturization of video projection.

When it was released, its price was around 500€. That made the purchase of this product difficult, knowing that for 200€ to 300€ more you could buy a good quality classic projector. We could deduce at the time that a picoprojectors purchase was the best solution if the use of the projection had to be purely mobile.

But times are changing… You can now buy this little gadget, the M109S mini video projector from DELL for only 339€. We can therefore expect that prices for the next generation of non-multimedia picoprojectors does not exceed 250€. As you know, the future of picoprojectors is turned towards mobile phones, cameras, or even laptops and in parallel, we find mini video projectors, like DELL’s M109S smaller and smaller with more and more lumens.

It resembles very much to the MPro 120 recently announced by 3M, but the design in this case is much less refined.
Let’s see what’s under the hull.

The brightness of this little toy is advertised at 20 lumens, which easily meets the demand for higher brightness. Its practically the double against its predecessors. The resolution remains the same with 640 × 480 pixels. The AGFAphoto APLP 200 will project an image with a diagonal size of up to 1.65m.

Its autonomy allows it not to be connected to a computer as it incorporates 1GB of internal memory and a SDHC card slot for up to 32GB. It is then possible to project anywhere at anytime.

Many standard file formats are compatible with this picoprojector: JPEG format photos, DivX, Xvid, MPEG-2 or H264 video formats and especially Office PowerPoint documents and PDF files. This is very usefull in the case of business use of the picoprojector.

There is a standard 3.5 jack entry to allow connecting a large majority of headsets on the market.

The APLP 200 AGFAphoto picoprojector has been designed for mobility. It can be powered by a mains cable or by four AA batteries which can provide up to three hours of autonomy.

The AGFAphoto APLP 200 should be sold in the month of November. It should cost only 200€! This is the highlight of this model! The autonomous picoprojector will become increasingly available for most of us, even in this time of crisis.
