The LG Monaco projector phone aka Pico from LG

They speak only of it in the picoprojection community. We do not really know if it’s only a rumor or if the information is reliable… In both cases, the information leaked from LG offices…

This is either a pure marketing buzz about the brand or a real opportunity for projectors and mobile phones fans.
These rumors came from the MedPi, a congress about digital entertainment bringing together leading High Tech brands. This congress is held in Monaco, so we now understand better the name chosen for the occasion: “LG Monaco“. If you believe these rumors, LG should enter the race to miniaturization of video projection directly integrated into a mobile phone, with its brand new Monaco projector phone (aka Pico)… totally innovative and unique!

Unfortunately, no information was disclosed about the performance of this integrated picoprojector. Hopefully, DLP technology will be chosen to manage the projection in this model because it’s still the technology that gives the best brightness, contrast, and color rendering nowdays.

For the phone part, this LG mobile phone model is 3G with a full slide keyboard (like the old Qtek or HTC Touch Pro in its high-end version), it has a 3.2″ (480 × 800px) WVGA screen, a 5MPx APN, a microSDHC slot, GPS, Bluetooth and apparently runs on Windows Mobile 7. It will also carry a Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8650 processor which will provide strong performance and above all very interesting autonomy, with a 1500 mAh removable battery capacity.

Currently there is only one projector phone available on the web market (at a reasonable price of course, let alone the Samsung I7410 worth $1500 on Ebay). It is the MP1000 from Tedacos, with 10 lumens and a 640 × 480 resolution, this little hi-tech jewel is the favourite of the pico team for this first half of year.
